Atari and Fig launch Atari Game Pool to fund future titles

Atari and Fig, the video game division of the Republic platform, have launched the Atari Game Pool crowdfunding campaign.

The pool aims to raise between $1 million to $15 million by August 6 to fund the creation of future titles. In its first 24 hours, the campaign pulled in $100,000.

With the raised capital, Atari intends to bring on external developers to create new titles from its library of IPs which include Pong, Centipede, and Asteroids.

The minimum investment backers can make is $500, and the maximum is $1 million.

Fig crowdfunding campaigns offer investors the opportunity to receive payouts based on the success of the final games.

Two to three of the biggest games will be given a budget of $1 million to $5 million, hoping to generate $10 million to $25 million in sales.

Additionally, four to six smaller-sized projects will have budgets of $500,000 to $1 million, with sales targets of up to $10 million.

The games publisher is already working with other creators on new titles for its classic game franchises.
