Amazon lays off nearly 100 staffers from its gaming divisions

Amazon has cut nearly 100 staffers within its gaming subsidiaries as part of its ongoing job cuts across the company.

As reported by Bloomberg, those affected include employees at Prime Gaming, Game Growth, and its San Diego studio.

In a memo to employees, Amazon Games vice president Christoph Hartmann said, “Going forward, we will continue to invest in our internal development efforts, and our teams will continue to grow as our projects progress.”

Back in March, Amazon said that it would eliminate about 9000 positions across the firm; among those affected were more than 400 staff from Twitch.

At the time, company CEO Andy Jassy said that as the firm re-assessed its operations, including role reductions, the decisions led it to lay off 18,000 employees in January.
