Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment delays Hogwarts Legacy to February 2023

Today, Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment (WBIE) announced that Hogwarts Legacy will release on February 10, 2023.

Last year, the Harry Potter inspired RPG was slated to release in 2022 but previously had a 2021 launch window when it was orginally revealed.

“The team is excited for you to play, but we need a little more time to deliver the best possible game experience,” WBIE said on Twitter.

Since the title’s announcement it’s encountered some controversy due to Harry Potter creator J.K. Rowling, who has been vocal in embracing anti-trans viewpoints.

During 2020, Bloomberg News’ Jason Schreier reported that WBIE president David Haddad was asked about them in relation to the game during a company Q&A session.

“While JK Rowling is the creator of Harry Potter, and we are bringing that to life with the power of Portkey [Games, the publishing label for Harry Potter titles], in many places, she’s a private citizen also,” Haddad said.

“And that means she’s entitled to express her personal opinion on social media. I may not agree with her, and I might not agree with her stance on a range of topics, but I can agree that she has the right to hold her opinions.”
