HBO’s The Last of Us live-action adaptation pulled in 4.7 million US viewers with its first episode.
As reported by Variety, per Nielsen ratings and Warner Bros. Discovery data, the series’ debut was second to Game of Thrones: House of Dragons.
The show’s first episode was also the second-largest HBO viewing premiere within the last 13 years.

Critics lauded the show; some reviews said it surpassed the game.
“The team has done an excellent job breathing life into new characters, creating an engaging and refreshing rendering of a popular genre story,” said Karama Horne for The Wrap.
