Among Netflix’s 247.15 million subscribers, less than 1% of those users play games daily.
As reported by CBNC, this is according to data from market analyst firm Apptopia, which also said that a projected average of 2.2 million users played one or more titles per day as of September.
It’s estimated that Netflix games have also been downloaded 70.5 million times worldwide.
Its library offerings of titles have expanded from 24 to 77 games within the past year.
Regarding the streaming firm’s games user count, “This trajectory is not dissimilar from what we’ve seen before,” said Netflix’s co-CEO Greg Peterson on a prerecorded earnings call.
“We see a tremendous amount of opportunity to build a long-term center value of entertainment.”
Regarding the streaming service’s gaming efforts, the Wall Street Journal reported last week that Netflix intends to adapt its popular series, such as Wednesday, Black Mirror, and Squid Game, into mobile titles last week. It’s also reportedly aiming to release a Grand Theft Auto entry.
Before launching its game service in November 2021, the streaming giant made a number of moves, such as hiring Mike Verdu as VP of game development and acquiring Oxenfree developer Night School Studio.
Most recently, it introduced a limited beta for its cloud gaming service for a select number of subscribers in the UK, Canada, and the US.
