Jen Oneal, J. Allen Brack, and John Donham have launched Magic Soup Games.

The newly established games studio will function as a fully remote company.

Oneal will step into the role of Magic Soup’s CEO; she previously served as executive vice president of development at Blizzard Entertainment.

Co-founder J. Allen Brack brings experience that includes a 15-year stint at Blizzard. He last served as president before leaving in 2021.

Donham’s professional career includes working as chief of staff and vice president of special projects at the World of Warcraft maker. He most recently served as general manager of gaming at Amazon.

“J., John, and I have similar ideas about the types of games we want to make, and we’re tightly aligned on company goals and principles, so this was a natural fit for us,” said Oneal.

“We know the quality of our games will be a reflection of our team culture. We’re doing the work up front to make sure we’re fostering creativity, fully remote collaboration, and a diversity of backgrounds.”

Magic Soup’s establishment comes 16 months after Oneal left as co-lead of Blizzard. She left the games firm due to pay disparities, saying the move was prompted after seeing Activision Blizzard employees “working towards meaningful, lasting change.”

Later in the month, Oneal said that Activision Blizzard only offered to match her pay with Mike Ybarra after resigning.
