Nordisk Games has acquired Rubber Bandits and Trailmakers developer Flashbulb Games.
Nordisk had previously purchased a 43 percent stake in the studio for 16.5 million DKK ($2.5 million), and in a press release said the full acquisition could amount to “several hundred million DKK.”
Flashbulb was established in 2016 and has worked on two titles for PC and console platforms. Nordisk was one of the first companies to invest in the studio, and moved to fully acquire the Danish outfit after seeing it rise to the challenge of “creating really unique games and turning them into commercial successes.”
Flashbulb co-founder Rune Dittmer has indicated the studio will retain its creative independence following the deal, explaining that Nordisk has “always been super-supportive while at the same time being happy to let us dictate the direction of the business.”
The news comes shortly after Nordisk Games, which is a subsidiary of Nordic media group Egmont, took a majority stake in Star Stable Entertainment.
