Software Engineer, Shield Break Studios
Location: Costa Mesa, CA
We are looking for a software engineer to help with both Bierzerkers global server environment and Shield Break Studios infrastructure. You are an all-around C++ kung fu master who shares our passion for building and playing video games. You will code like a beast, champion ideas, and implement your designs as you help build the server infrastructure for Bierzerkers. This is an extremely rewarding and challenging job experience in which you will grow as a person more than you ever would in a corporate setting.
This is a full-time position with Shield Break Studios. We are located in Orange County, CA.
General skillset
Passion for gaming
Strong C++ and object-oriented design skills
Strong data structures, logic, and algorithm skills
Familiar with implementing client / server architecture
Self-motivated and a strong teammate willing to pitch in on many areas of development
Comfort in rapid prototyping to test feasibility of concepts.
A self-motivator possessing the ability and drive to contribute towards and advance all aspects of a game.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills
Able to work in a collaborative environment with a highly skilled team
Previous experience shipping game titles or other software
Linux development experience
Database development experience (MySQL, Oracle, etc.)
Networking experience in TCP / IP and UDP protocols
Familiar with higher level network protocols such as HTTP, SNMP, SMTP, FTP
Low level network knowledge and diagnosis including packet capture (tcpdump, wireshark), routing, firewalls, DHCP, DNS, NAT busting
Extras
Distributed Systems experience
Experience with online platforms (AWS, Steam, PSN, XB Live)
Experience with game engins UDK/UE4
A degree in computer science, related field, or equivalent experience
